About the Artist

Caryn Stromberg is a Northern California-based artist celebrated for her evocative pastel portraits and diverse body of work spanning multiple mediums. Her artistic journey began as an art major in college, but life led her down different paths before she eventually returned to her passion. She resumed her education at Sacramento City College and American River College, supplementing her studies with various workshops and life drawing groups .  

Caryn’s portfolio showcases a rich array of subjects, including portraits, landscapes, figures, and abstracts. While she is primarily known for her pastel work, she also explores oil, watercolor, acrylic, and alcohol ink. Her pieces often convey deep emotional resonance and storytelling, whether through a quiet landscape or an expressive figure . 

Caryn actively participates in the local art community, exhibiting her award winning work at venues such as The Carter House Gallery, Old City Hall Gallery and City Hall in Redding and Highland Art Center, and Main Street Gallery in Weaverville. In 2024, she held a solo exhibits at Redding Regional Airport and Main Street Gallery and has twice had pieces included in the West Coast Biennial Art Exhibition at Turtle Bay Exploration Park in Redding. She was selected as the Featured Artist for the North Valley Art League's Carter House Gallery for August, 2025. Her work has been chosen for online exhibits of the Pastel Society of the West Coast and MettaGallery.com and won first place in the 2025 Dakota Pastels Annual Soft Pastels Competition.

Caryn is a member of the North Valley Art League, Shasta County Arts Council, the Pastel Society of the West Coast and is a juried Associate Member of the Pastel Society of America.
